POWDER COATING

Powder Coating Equipment – This technology provides a very hard durable finish compared to liquid paint. The powder travels through the powder gun and an electrostatic charge is applied to the powder which is sprayed to a grounded substrate. The electrostatic charge on powder adheres the powder to the substrate. The powder part is baked in either a convection or infrared oven. The baking process causes the powder particle to become molten and flow out over the surface.

Powder is supplied to the powder applicator through either a vibratory box system or a hopper system. The vibratory box systems pumps the powder out of the powder box through the powder hose to the powder gun. The hopper system is a 50 pound container that holds a box of powder. The hopper system pumps the powder out of the hopper through the powder hose to the powder gun.

Powder Coating Booth – powder is applied in a powder coating booth that captures the powder over spray. The powder booth can be either a 3 stage filtration system or cartridge filtration system and both system exhaust the air back into work environment. The 3 stage filtration system is for low volume applications and the cartridge powder recovery system is for high volume applications.

LIQUID SPRAY BOOTHS

Crossdraft Design – The simplest configuration, crossdraft booths use an exhaust fan to pull air end at one end of booth. Air may pass through a filtered door, enter the working chamber filtered or be through a pressurized intake plenum. Air flows parallel to the floor, across the product and into a filter bank at the booth rear.

Side Downdraft Design – Side downdraft booths are an economical solution for shops that aren’t able to install a pit. Air comes into the booth through a full length, filtered ceiling plenum, and flows downward over the product. When air reaches the floor, it is pulled into floor level filtered exhaust plenums on either side of the booth.

Downdraft Design – Generally accepted as the best airflow style, downdrafts booths do an excellent job at the controlling overspray and contamination. Air enters the booth through a full length, filtered ceiling plenum. From there, air flows vertically over the product and into the filtered exhaust pit in the floor. Filter media is supported by secondary grating, enabling balanced air distribution and maximizing filter utilization.
